The release each week of a new chapter of ‘Daughters of Lace’ got me to thinking about the process of publication. People have asked me why I decided to go down this route of a newsletter release instead of print publication and the answer is simple. Seeking traditional publication is a difficult and often demoralising process.

Part of the struggle appears to be having some writing credits on the board. This means a track record as an author - whether through ongoing journal publication or recognition in writing competitions - and an established social media following which makes it easier for a new work to reach the market.
