Author commentary

I just love writing about relationships. For me, this is the reason why I write - to work out why people act the way they do and to show the truth of who they are. In this chapter, I want to show Mary’s reactions rather than give us a blow by blow account of the fear she has Jim will reveal her secrets. I love the interactions, and putting my characters under pressure to see how they act and react. It’s the same in life really, you can tell a lot about someone by how they act, by what they do and not by what they say.
