Author Commentary
Originally, I was going to jump straight into Part 2 without a prologue but when I thought about it, I realised a lead in would help bridge the two parts of the narrative. Also, I thought the structure of Part 2 should mirror Part 1 (Part 1 had a prologue), and I liked the idea of a ‘hook’ to engage readers for the second part of the story.
I re-read the prologue to Part 1 which I thought worked quite well. I wanted to write something similar for Part 2 but I struggled to think what this could be. It ended up being more serious than I intended.
